Overview

The Specialist Resource Base is hosted by Hillside Primary School and is a county resource.

The children within the SRB are granted placements from the Local Education Authority for a two-term period.  The SRB is a county resource, so children could be placed here from any school in Norfolk, but usually all children are from the Great Yarmouth area.  The resource is primarily a small base for children with learning and cognition difficulties.

The SRB offers a broad and balanced curriculum and gives the children opportunities to develop independent learning skills.  The curriculum is suitable for their individual needs.

A high priority for the staff is to help improve the children’s confidence and self-esteem alongside making learning fun.  Our curriculum offer develops Literacy skills and Maths through a range of specialist approaches and a high staff to pupil ratio. Pupils also have access to learning that is delivered through lots of hands on and practical experiences, such a gardening, cooking and horse riding.  The SRB children join the Hillside whole school assemblies and play times and every half term one SRB child is elected to sit on the whole school council meetings.

We hope to develop in every child respect for each other and to enable them to fulfil their individual potential in a positive and stimulating learning environment.
