The teacher in Year 2 is Ms Speirs
Year 2 is the children’s second year in Key Stage 1. We build upon the experiences and learning the children bring with them from Year 1. We encourage the children to be more independent and to develop their learning skills further. Extra adult support is given where necessary. We expect children to work co-operatively and engage in the social aspects of class life. Our Personal, Social & Health Education lessons reflect the positive values we encourage.
We follow a broad and balanced curriculum in Year 2, with a strong emphasis on basic skills. English and Maths are taught daily. Music, PE, RE and Computing are taught as discrete subject and also linked to current work in the classroom. Science, History, Geography, Art and DT are taught in block sessions. We have six different topics through the year, all very practical, exciting and fun.
