The governors at Hillside Primary School and Nursery play an important part in the running of our school. The governors can be contacted through the school office. Minutes of meetings are available on request through the clerk Mrs Boulton (office@hillside.norfolk.sch.uk).

Sue Stinton (Co-Opted Governor since 2004)

I am a member of Premises, Finance and Staffing committees.  I have a special interest in Literacy and assist with the Head Teacher Appraisal.  Both of my children attended Hillside but now have finished full time education.  I worked as a civil servant for over 33 years until I took early retirement in 2014.  I am currently employed at two local High Schools on a part time basis.

Rev Sue Upton (Co-Opted Governor since 2009, Curriculum Committee)

I have a special interest in Early Years, Special Needs, the SRB unit and RE.  I am also involved with the leading of Collective Worship on a regular basis.  I am a former Early Years teacher, having spent most of my teaching career in Nursery and Reception classes.  I am now one of the Assistant Ministers at St. Nicholas Church in Bradwell where I have been since leaving teaching in 2002.

Trevor Wainwright (Chair)

I have been a Governor for 10 years and became Chair of Governors in 2017. As a local Councillor, I am heavily involved in the local community, and bring my knowledge of this to the School. I attend the Finance, Curriculum and School Council Committee Meetings.

Wendy Griffiths (Parent Governor since 2014, Vice Chair, Chair of Curriculum Committee and Safe Guarding)

I see my role as giving something back to the Community. I thoroughly enjoyed my school years and I would like all children to have a similar experience.I currently work as an administrator and have vast experience of business and customer service. I initially trained as a Professional Chef and worked as a catering manager, commercial manager and office manager for over 30 years within the hospitality and printing industries. I was a school governor in Essex for 2 ½ years prior to moving to Norfolk

Matthew Yaxley (Co-opted Governor since 2008, Chair of Premises Committee) My role is to ensure the school, staff, pupils and visitors comply with latest legislation as well as policies and procedures and all are as safe as possible whilst at school.  I am currently a cluster manager working for a supplier of Readymix concrete in the construction industry for which I have over 23 years service.  Part of my role includes the health, safety and welfare of staff, visitors and contractors to any of the plants and offices within my area.

Richard Keeler (Co-opted Governor since 2008, Chair of the Finance Committee, numeracy monitoring governor) With my background as an accountant I mainly assist the school with monitoring it's financial obligations.  I left school and qualified as a certified and then shortly after chartered accountant and work at a local firm within the town.  I have been a governor since 2008.  I originally volunteered for the role as I felt it was a good opportunity to give something back to the system and to help the school continue to grow and develop.

Owen Darby (Parent Governor since 2014, Premises and PE) Having an opportunity to be a parent governor gives me the chance to make a contribution to the school and the local community.  I have a strong interest in sport so being involved with the subject of PE is ideal for me.  This enables me to observe, gain understanding and offer support where I feel may be necessary.  I am a third generation estate agent and have been involved with the family business for over 20 years.

Clare Martin (Co-opted Governor)

I am a member of the Curriculum Committee and monitor communication with parents and the community, ICT and PE.  I trained as a Professional chef and worked in local hotels.  I also worked as a retail manager.  I have worked at Hillside since 2001 as a TA, cover-supervisor and now HLTA.
