Governors

The governors at Hillside Primary School and Nursery play an important part in the running of our school. The governors can be contacted through the school office. Minutes of meetings are available on request through the clerk Mrs Boulton (office@hillside.norfolk.sch.uk). Rev Sue Upton (Co-Opted Governor since 2009, Curriculum Committee) 

I have a special interest in Early Years, Special Needs, the SRB unit and RE.  I am also involved with the leading of Collective Worship on a regular basis.  I am a former Early Years teacher, having spent most of my teaching career in Nursery and Reception classes.  I am now one of the Assistant Ministers at St. Nicholas Church in Bradwell where I have been since leaving teaching in 2002.

              Sue Stinton (Co-Opted/Community Governor since 2004 ) I am a member of Premises, Finance and Staffing committees.  I have a special interest in Literacy and assist with the Head Teacher Appraisal.  Both of my children attended Hillside but now have finished full time education.  I worked as a civil servant for over 33 years until I took early retirement in 2014.  I am currently employed at two local High Schools on a part time basis.               Trevor Wainwright (Chair) p1070511 Wendy Griffiths (Parent Governor since 2014, Vice- Chair and Safe Guarding)  I see my role as giving something back to the Community. I thoroughly enjoyed my school years and I would like all children to have a similar experience.I currently work as an administrator and have vast experience of business and customer service. I initially trained as a Professional Chef and worked as a catering manager, commercial manager and office manager for over 30 years within the hospitality and printing industries. I was a school governor in Essex for 2 ½ years prior to moving to Norfolk 12   Matthew Yaxley (Parent Governor since 2008, Chair of Premises Committee) My role is to ensure the school, staff, pupils and visitors comply with latest legislation as well as policies and procedures and all are as safe as possible whilst at school.  I am currently a cluster manager working for a supplier of Readymix concrete in the construction industry for which I have over 23 years service.  Part of my role includes the health, safety and welfare of staff, visitors and contractors to any of the plants and offices within my area.               Richard Keeler (Parent Governor since 2008, Chair of the finance committee, numeracy monitoring governor) With my background as an accountant I mainly assist the school with monitoring it's financial obligations..  I left school and qualified as a certified and then shortly after chartered accountant and work at a local firm within the town.  I have been a governor since 2008.  I originally volunteered for the role as I felt it was a good opportunity to give something back to the system and to help the school continue to grow and develop. 7 Owen Darby (Parent Governor since 2014, Premises and PE) Having an opportunity to be a parent governor gives me the chance to make a contribution to the school and the local community.  I have a strong interest in sport so being involved with the subject of PE is ideal for me.  The enables me to observe, gain understanding and offer support where | feel may be necessary.  I myself am a third generation estate agent and have been involved with the family business for over 20 years.   1 Joe Parrott (Parent Governor since November 2016) My aim is to represent the views of parents and ensure our children are getting all the knowledge & skills they need. I have worked in the Telecommunications/IT industry for over nine years and am currently a Global Compliance Manager for BT. I am also vice-chair of Governors at Ormiston Venture Academy in Gorleston.  My daughter attends Hillside Primary and my son goes to Hillside Nursery. jp-2 Jane Park (Staff Governor since 2012, curriculum committee) I represent a staff voice on the governing body.  I present, explain and discuss Key Stage 2 assessments and other aspects of teaching and learning.  I have taught at Hillside for 16 years, during which time I have taught every year group apart from Year 2!  Foe the past nine years, I have been KS2 leader with responsibility for overseeing the learning and pastoral care of years 3 to 6.  Currently I teach Year 6 and see my role there as preparing the children for the end of Key Stage SATs and also for their transition to High School. 7-2 Clare Martin (Staff Governor) I am a member of the curriculum committee and monitor communication with parents and the community, ICT and PE.  I trained as a Professional chief and worked in local hotels.  I also worked as a retail manager.  I have worked at Hillside since 2001 as a TA, cover-supervisor and now HLTA.               Deborah Oldham (honorary member) 8455c354ee
