Research is showing more and more that good attendance throughout a child's school life has a direct impact on their success at GCSE and beyond.  Headteachers have for many years had discretion to authorise up to 10 days leave under very exceptional circustances, but family holidays in term time have become a normal pattern for many families, largely due to cost. We have been advised by our Attendance Officers that we should no longer authorise absence for holiday, except on very rare and truly exceptional occasions.  For this reason our Governors have decided that leave will no longer be authorized.  We do fully understand that the cost of holidays can increase greatly in the Summer but children's learning suffers from school absence.
